standard series rotary lobe blower vacuum pumps are driven by an air-cooled motor. They have shaft seals that lead to the atmosphere and the pump is connected to an air-cooled motor. WAU pumps are easy to operate! They include a differential pressure valve that allows them to start at the same time as the roughing pump. If the pressure difference between the flanges is too high, the valve will open. And then a portion of the pumped gas flows through this line back to the intake flange. Therefore, the pump may be turned on at atmospheric pressure with the backing pump. This increases the pumping speed of the pump combination at high intake pressures
